My experience varies from non-profit management to academic research and instruction.

I am dedicated to building a bridge between the university and the community. My interdisciplinary training in Education, Biology, and Ethnic Studies shaped my theoretical and practical alignment to inclusion, equity, and diversity.

Additionally, I perform research that focuses on highlighting the experiences of underrepresented groups in STEM fields such as first-generation, women of color, STEM majors in the community college. Funded by the National Science Foundation, my grant emphasizes the diversity of people and ideas, as it studies this understudied community using interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks (complex systems theory, feminist standpoint theory, and Black feminist epistemology) and mixed methods approaches.
My personal and professional experience inform my insight and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within and beyond the university. This journey began at 14 years old, when I committed to commuting for five hours daily to South Central Los Angeles for the opportunity of earning a quality education at King-Drew Medical and Science Magnet High School. My teachers there cultivated my intellectual curiosity, which matured into a passion for creating ideas and solutions.
